Tanguerin announces important changes in its activites and vision

Following a restructuring in its organization and the transfer of its teaching activities to the association tango.bg, TanguerIN announces the following important changes:

TanguerIN suspends all its teaching and educational activites until further notice and will focus on the promotion, organization and production of stage and social events related to argentine tango as well as music and dance in general, which may include, but not limited to, concerts, shows, theatre performances, milongas, DJ parties, festivals and others. Another priority of TanguerIN will be to bring and present in Bulgaria established foreign artists, including musicans and dancers, and to foster their cooperation with local artists and organizers for the creation of interesting mutual projects of high quality that will enrich the cultural and artistic life in Bulgaria.

To mark these policy changes and the beginning of a new period in its existence Tanguerin drops the word "Studio" from its brand name as well as the capitalization of the last two letters which have until now represented the first initials of the names of its founders, Ivo and Nadia. In addition to this, Tanguerin addopts a new logo which will have a black and white as well as a color version as shown in the pictures below.

Following the announced changes, the Tanguerin Team hopes to better fulfill its objectives reflected in the organization's new mission statement which is "to bring joy, emotional pleasure, artisitc spirituality and culutral awareness through quality entertainment in the area of music and dance".

Ismael Ludman and Maria Mondino back in Sofia for a second contemporary tango weekend

Together, as a dance couple, they have traveled throughout most of Europe, teaching, performing and taking part in tango festivals and events. In June 2007 they came to Sofia for a weekend of workshops and milongas organized by TanguerIN, enchanting everyone with their teaching and dancing and turning the event into a huge success.

Now Ismael Ludman and Maria Mondino are back in Sofia, brought again by TanguerIN Studio, with even more interesting ideas to help us catch-up with the latest developments in tango and to make our dance even more organic, more dynamic, more connected, more improvised, more colourful and more enjoyable!

What shall we expect from their workshops this time:

1. A dance laboratory where we will synthesize the formula of tango enriched with some new substances of tango.
Key phrases: stretching the borders, contemporary tango elements, dynamics
We will be subject to a deep and fundamental training in tango elements and beyond. We'll go over most of the known and some new tango elements, getting to know more about our bodies, our tango possibilities and our willingness to play and connect.

2. A social dance focus.
Key phrases: musicality, improvisation, leading and following, fluidity, combinations.
We will explore the possibilities of making our dance grow into the limitations of a reduced space and an environment shared with (many) others. We will take an in-depth look at the close embrace and try to fill our dance with color and dynamic, in part by recognizing our dance as a social and a sharing phenomenon.

About Ismael and Maria:

If you have already seen Ismael and Maria somewhere around the world or three years ago in Sofia, you don't need to read further, as their presence and the things they do speak about them better than any biography, or listing of names and  achievements. Nevertheless, we synthesized a few impressions and facts about them for those of you who haven't had the pleasure to attend one of their classes or a milonga where they dance.

Ismael Ludman y Maria Mondino are a fresh, dynamic and energetic couple, part of the newest generation of dancers and teachers who, during the last decade, have transformed the way argentine tango is perceived and danced, turning it into an up-to-date genre, popular among many young people around the world. With a generous and sensual receptivity to the evolving organic vocabulary of the dance, Ismael and Maria combine understanding of the mechanics of movement, awareness of the dynamics of connection and the qualities that allow for more freedom of possibility, artistry and improvisation. Their performances show pure simplicity as well as a complex and personal interpretation of the music, both in traditional and modern tango. As teachers they combine the precision of the technical and mechanical perspective of the movements with the abstract world of sensations and feelings.

Ismael Ludman is at the cutting edge of tango development promoting a style with a focus on communication, a relax way of dancing and expressiveness. He has worked extensively with Gustavo Naveira, and Chicho. He has taught together with Sebastian Arce and Mariana Montes, Melina Bruffman and Claduio Gonzales and others. He is also versed in Contact Improvisation, Euthonia, Butoh and Dance-Theatre.

Maria Mondino pursues quality and organic movement, as well as warmth, expressiveness and connection in the dance. She started her tango career with renowned milonguero Juan Durso, and has worked extensively with Gustavo Naveira, Maurico Castro & Carla Marano, "Chicho" Frumboli & Eugenia Parilla, and Pablo Inza. She is experienced in theatre, flamenco, contemporary dance and release technique, and has taught at Mora Godoy Studios, Tango Brujo Academy and Centro Cultural La Fragua. Her website is www.tangodinamia.com.ar.

They are currently on an annual artistic resdency in Berlin during which they have their next big European tour, which this time pays a decent attention to the countries of Central and Eastern Europe. Apart from their usual visits around Germany, Austria, Italy and the UK, their 2010 program features workshops and festival participation in the Czech Republic, Poland, Slovenia, Hungary and Romania. And, of course, we are thrilled and very happy that they accepted our invitation and managed to fit Sofia in their busy schedule for this summer!

A dedicated space open for everybody who wants to practice, to dance, to socialize or simply to listen to some authentic argentine tango music.

And if you are still wondering, here are 4 important reasons why you should not miss this event if you are a serious tango dancer:

1. Unique ambiance: authentic hall from the beginning of 20th century (somewhere around the Golden Age of tango) with 200 sq.m. parquet floor, creates the illusion the the orchetras of Di Sarli and D'Arienzo are actully there and play on the stage;

2. Musicalizador that makes no compromise: DJ A.K.A.D.E.M.I.C. who is seriously suspected of being the reborn spirit of a famous figure from the history of tango (currently the opinions are divided between Francisco Canaro and the dancer El Cachafaz, a scientific research on the matter is expected to be available soon);

3. Quality beer: next door is the restaurant of the Czech & Slovak Club, that serves the best Czech beer in town, and beer is widely believed to be one of the most loyal friends of the real milonguero;

4. Free entrance: this needs no further explanation.

This event is a joint effort of the TanguerIN Team and estef y adrian.

French impressionism meets argentine tango in the performance of pianist Maria Martinova and violinist David Nuñez

The next concert organized by TanguerIN will provide a meeting point for the lovers of classical and tango music and will take place on 27 February from 7.30 pm in the Concert Hall of the National Music School "Lubomir Pipkov" in Sofia. THE CONCERT

For those who love sophisticated music this is a unique trip across time and space, presenting compositions inspired by two magnificent cities during two extraordinary eras for their musical cultures. The concert draws a parallel between Paris and Buenos Aires and their renowned innovative composers. From one side stand Claude Debussy and Maurice Ravel, the most notable representatives of French music from the start of the XX century and of classical modernism in general. From the other side we have the argentine composers and musicians from the second half of XX century, who made a revolution in argentine tango led by the great Astor Piazzolla

The beautiful and passionate music of these composers is performed by two young and extremely talented musicians who have already left their footprints in contemporary classical music and tango: Bulgarian-born pianist Maria Martinova, who now lives and works in the Netherlands, and Venezualian violinist David Nuñez who currently lives and works in Belgium. Some of the pieces from the concert will be performed for the first time in Bulgaria.

THE PROGRAM

Part 1: PARIS

1. Claude Debussy - C'est l'extase
2-4. Claude Debussy - Sonata for Violin and Piano
5. Maurice Ravel - Habanera
6-8. Maurice Ravel - Sonata for Violin and Piano

1. Antonio Agri - s.d. De Nada
2. Gustavo Beytelmann - Bethsheba
3. Bardi/Tripodi - Nunca Tuvo Novio

THE TICKETS
