TanguerIN and Jazz+ present:
Legendary argentinean bandoneonist
Rodolfo Mederos
in a tango concert with
RODOLFO MEDEROS TRIO
and tango dancers
Natalia Games and Gabriel Angio (Buenos Aires)
Sofia, Bulgaria Concert Hall, 17 November 2009, 7.30 pm
As a performer, Rodolfo Mederos
expresses a deep-felt musicality and conquers the audience with the
emotional insightfulness of his interpretations. From every single note
that he strikes, he draws a myriad of deep roots and good taste,
typical for the greatest of artists. He is also an acclaimed composer
and arranger, covering the whole range from popular to symphonic pieces
for different instrumental groups. And throughout the years he has
carved out a career as teacher and writer of texts on bandoneon as well
as tango composition and orchestration, contributing to the formation
of many of today's bandoneonists. All this makes Rodolfo Mederos a
cornerstone, a quintessential figure of current tango.
"...the bandoneon has the ability to affect human existence with melancholy. One thing is to put sorrow into words; another is to feel the sorrow", says Rodolfo Mederos. "No other instrument has ever been able to express that language, that feeling."
With his trio including Armando De La Vega (guitar) and Sergio Rivas (double bass), Rodolfo Mederos will perform his virtuosic and yet emotionally intimate interpretations of classic tango pieces.
The trio
will be joined on stage by the Argentinean tango dancers Natalia Games
and Gabriel Angio, renowned for the dynamism of their dance and their
breathtaking elegance. Their names are well known to tango lovers in
Buenos Aires and around the globe. They have danced on almost every
important stage in the world as part of the legendary company TangoX2
and have been invited as maestros to the biggest tango festivals. Since
2001 they direct and tour with their own tango company, Plan B.
On 17th of November through the music of Rodolfo Mederos trio and the dance of Natalia and Gabriel the audience will feel the meaning of maestro Mederos' words: "I firmly believe that a true artistic workpiece should always touch the spirit... It should always try to move the depths of our souls, at times violently."
Tickets are sold by Ticket Plus nework (http://ticketplus.bg) and at the Bulgaria Concert Hall box office on 1 Aksakov St. in Sofia.

Bandoneonist,
composer and arranger Rodolfo Mederos is a natural musician in every
sense of the word. His forceful personality has produced a profound
effect on tango, developing a style fraught with popular essence and
emotion. In the mid-70's, after working with such giants of tango music
as Astor Piazzolla and Osvaldo Pugliese, he has decided to look for his
own style. It was through his desire to search through other rhythms
that he has managed to place himself as one of the most prominent
figures of today's tango music.
