On 7th May, Saturday, TanguerIN Tango Studio will host a concert
entitled "A Sense of Tango" which will take place from 5.30 pm in the
Sofia City Art Gallery on 1 Gurko St. Works of Astor Piazzolla,
including Las Estaciones and Muerte del Angel, as well as selected
argentine tangos will be performed by:
Mariela Nedyalkova (violin)
Nikolay Grozdev (cello)
Evgeny Zheliazkov (piano)
During the event all tango lovers will have the opportunity to dance to the live performance. Entrance costs 3 lv.
On this occasion, the Bulgarian audience will be able to hear
Argentinian music performed by Bulgarian musicians living in Argentina.
Violinist Mariela Nedyalkova and cellist Nikolay Grozdev have been
living and working in Mendoza, Argentina, since 1992. University
professors, performing musicians, winners of musical awards and
participants in many chamber music festivals they research and promote
the contemporary music of Argentina and Latin America. For their
concert in Sofia they are joined by pianist Evgeny Zheliazkov who has a
rich history of performances and concerts with many famous orchestras
and musicians in Bulgaria, winner of the prestigious "Chrystal Lyre"
award.
About the musicians:
MARIELA NEDYALKOVA was born in Russe, she is a graduate of the State
Music Academy "Prof. Pancho Vladigerov", where she studied violin with
Prof. Dora Ivanova. She has taught at the High School of Arts in Russe
and has performed with the Russe Philharmonic Orchestra. Since 1992 she
lives and works as university lecturer and orchestra musician in
Mendoza, Argentina. As a soloist of the Philharmonic Orchestra of
Mendoza and the Symphony Orchestra of San Juan she has performed
concerts by Bach, Prokofiev and the Argentine premiere of Sinfonia
Concertante for violin and harpe by L. Schpor. She has performed at
many festivals with various chamber formations and is a winner of the
Federal Chamber Music Competition "Camping Musical Bariloche" in Buenos
Aires. She has been invited by Al. Lysy to participate in the annual
festival organized by his foundation in Carilo, Argentina. She manages
and promotes research projects on violin methodology and contemporary
Latin American music for violin and piano.
NIKOLAY GROZDEV was born in Russe. In 1989 he graduated with a Masters'
degree from the State Music Academy "Prof. Pancho Vladigerov" in Sofia
having studied cello with prof. Zdravko Yordanov. He has been a
performing musician with the Russe Philharmonic Orquestra. Since 1992
he lives in Argentina where he has been working at the Chamber
Orchestra of St. Louis, the Symphony Orchestra of Univesridad Nacional
de Cuyo and the Philharmonic Orchestra of Mendoza with which he has
performed also as a soloist. He has also been performing actively with
various chamber formations. He is a winner of the Federal Chamber Music
Competition in Buenos Aires organized by Camping Musical Bariloche and
performs regularly at the annual chamber music festivals in the
province of Mendoza. He has performed for the first time in Argentina a
number of contemporary works by Krumb, Guerra-Peixe, G. Noble,
Russovich and others. Since 2000 he is the leading professor of the
cello department at the Faculty of Arts and Design of the Universidad
Nacional de Cuyo. He participates in various research projects focused
on studying and promoting contemporary Argentine and Latin American
music.
EVGENY ZHELYAZKOV has studied piano at the State Musical Academy "Prof.
Pancho Vladigerov" with Prof. Lili Atanasova and Teodora Nestorova. In
1989 he has participated in the F. Buzoni International Competition in
Italy. Since 1990 he has been teaching at the High School of Arts in
Russe. He has been performing as a soloist with the Russe Philharmonic
Orchestra and the Youth Festival Orchestra of the "March Musical Days"
International Festival. He has performed with violinist Svetlin Russev
and with many well-known artists such as Petko Radev, Georgi Spassov,
Christian van der Borgt, Ventzislav Nikolov, Pristis Quartet, singers
Pavel Gerdzhikov, Mariana Tzvetkova, Orlin Anastasov, Stefka Mineva,
Violeta Shahanova etc. He has been a member of the jury at the Franz
Schubert National Competition in 1997 and 1999 and from 2001 he is the
chairman of the competition's organizing committee. He has recordings
at the Bulgarian National Radio and Television and the Bucharest radio.
He is the choir master of the Prof. Vassil Arnaudov Choir in Russe. In
2001 he has received the prestigious "Chrystal Lyre" award for high
artistic achievements of the Union of Bulgarian Musician and Dancers.
In the summer of 2004 he has worked as pianist at the Master Class
given by Prof. Mincho Minchev in Arkutino.
